Does Anthem Cover ABA Therapy?

The short answer, yes.

Anthem commonly covers ABA therapy for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) when the therapy is considered medically necessary.

Thanks to Nevada’s autism insurance mandate, many Anthem plans are required to include coverage for autism services, including ABA therapy.

That said, every plan is different. Coverage can vary depending on your specific benefits, network, and authorization requirements.

The good news?

You don’t have to decode your policy on your own. Our team will review your Anthem benefits and explain everything clearly — no confusing insurance language, no guesswork.

Who Is Eligible for ABA Therapy With Anthem?

Most children qualify for ABA therapy coverage through Anthem when a few key pieces are in place:

An Autism Diagnosis

Your child must have a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder from a qualified healthcare professional.

Medical Necessity

ABA therapy needs to be recommended as a necessary part of your child’s development and care.

Active Anthem Insurance Plan

Your child must be enrolled in an Anthem plan that includes behavioral health benefits.

Authorization Approval

Most Anthem plans require prior authorization before therapy services can begin.

If this sounds like a lot, that’s completely okay.
At Best Buds ABA, we walk families through each step so nothing gets missed and everything feels manageable.
